Walking through the tent of the Subaru STI team, one walks away with a sense that every member of this organization has one goal in mind: finish this race with everybody else in our mirrors. This team is a collective manifestation of determination: everyone here wants to win the SP3T class.
Their entry is a slightly race tweaked 2015 WRX STi (slightly could be a gross overstatement as so much of this car resembles the one at the dealership). Normally, when I see a road car used for endurance racing, the final product is the hollowed shell of what the car used to be. But not this one (specs may be available in the future). When I look at this car, I think that I could build a car just like this.
Check this out: The intake manifold, turbo, intercooler (which is, ahem, top-mounted) all look like the bits I can purchase from my dealer. Whaaaaaattt?!!!  About the only items that appear (to visual inspection) to have come from the secret laboratories of the STI mothership are the exquisitely tasty aerobits (which I think should have found their way onto the 2015 production road car).
And, of course, the entire car is blanketed in the team’s banner color of rally blue. And did I mention that this thing is FAST!!!!  The Subaru STI team will take the start of the 24 Hours of the Nurburgring at the lead of the SP3T class.
