Land Rover BDSM

DiscoLand Rover people are a strange bunch. They know the cars are unreliable but buy them anyway. They perform massive, expensive repairs on a vehicle hardly worth the labor to make the repair. Yet they do it willingly. They take the punishment time and time again. They seem to like be being punished. Because who buys a car that needs head gaskets every 60,000 miles? They know this when they buy it, but they do it anyway….They are the BDSM scene of the automotive world. I know this because I own one. A 1999 Land Rover Discovery II.

Seriously, we know we’re buying some of the most unreliable vehicles in the world but for some reason we are turned on by them. Most people are scared away, but many are also fascinated and want to experiment with Land Rovers. Many find it is not for them… but others find their needs fully satisfied. Like Pinhead once said, “Explorers in the further regions of experience. Demons to some, angels to others.”

This is the beginning of my blog about what it’s like to daily drive a 1999 Land Rover Discovery II. I will explain the many ways that My Disco, or top (BDSM terminology for dominant one in the relationship) likes to flog, control, bind, spank/whip, torture, and suspend me by my wallet.

This story begins with in January 2015 with head gaskets of course.

Disco Rebuild

After months of topping off the coolant the valley gasket decided to let go causing me to overheat on the way home from work. My top wasn’t pleased that I had not made attempts to repair her sooner. I had actually ordered all the necessary parts earlier that day but she wanted to remind me where my place is and I thank her for that. Total spent on parts $1500 (not including machining and fluids). And thanks to Costa Mesa R &D http://www.engine-machining.com/ and Atlantic British http://www.roverparts.com/ for assisting me.
