If you’ve never been to a vintage race this is a fair question. If you’ve seen a vintage race in person than you already know that it is very real. Take a look at this video by Chris Harris at the Goodwood Revival. He’s driving an old Porsche 356 and he’s getting after it. Each shift is too redline and most corners looks like a demonstration of rotation under trail braking. At 2:33 the car is way sideways and carrying a ton of speed. Vintage racing is definitely real racing. I should also point out that the silver Jaguar XK120 next to Chris on the grid is my friend Sam Smith of Road & Track.
