Most of us are familiar with electric water pumps but if you’re not, they have two advantages. First you free up horsepower by not having to push the water around mechanically and second you get better control of your cooling – meaning you can have full water flow at idle instead of 6,000 rpms required by the pulls driven pump.
Davies Craig also sells this sweet water temperature controller that manages your water temp. You enter your ideal water temp and it does the rest. You simply plum a temp sensor into the upper radiator hose and away you go. It will also control your electric fan if you want. If you’re worried about heat soak, you can have the water pump and fan run for a pre-programmed amount of time after shut off. The largest pump and controller setup runs about $500.
