Ever wondered how many different racing events you can do with a ’75 Dodge Dart? I’m trying to figure that out! My dad built this Mad Max Dart back in 2001 for the Mt Washington Hillclimb and this thing is still kicking ass and taking names.
The last hillclimb it ran was May Ascutney 2011 (exactly 10 years after it debuted at a NEHA) where it tore the input shaft to pieces. So I put a new transmission in and we brought it to the rallycross at Stafford Speedway in January, where we proceed to blow the slave cylinder apart, and ran for two days using only first gear! How? Because high torque starters are awesome!
I also decided I want to see what this drifting stuff is all about, so last weekend, we fixed the clutch, installed a new hydro e-brake, and a passenger seat. We will be at NHMS with Clubloose North on April 4th! (Caswell note: If you guys go by Clubloose, pleases go find this car and get some pictures for us to share!)
The interior remained unchanged over the years and the seats are perfect for ’75 Dodge Dart. Almost period correct!
More to follow!
